APPLICATIONS are open for the 2009-2010 Victorian Veterans Council Grant Program.
The program, which includes the Victorian Veterans Fund and the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund, aims to educate the community about Victoria’s involvement in Australia’s war and service history. South Eastern Metropolitan MP Gordon Rich-Phillips said many of Berwick’s residents had played an integral part in the defence and service of the state and country.
“The selfless sacrifices many locals and their families have made must be not only remembered but also deserve to be celebrated,” he said.
Mr Rich-Phillips is encouraging anyone involved in Berwick’s veteran community to apply for the grants.
According to Mr Rich-Phillips, preference will be given to lower costed projects. Grants of up to $50,000 are available.
Applications close on 21 September for the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund and the Veterans Fund round one and 1 February 2010 for the Veterans Fund round two.
