AWARD-winning gospel hip-hop artist Lecrae visited Narre Warren South P-12 College as part of EXODAY.
EXODAY is school lunchtime program run by Youth Alive Victoria to spread a message to students that life is excellent (EXO) regardless of personal hardships.
A small group of Year 9 students, led by Emmeline Bosquet and Phillip Karer, chose to run EXODAY at the college to provide the lunchtime festival as a gift to the school.
They received help from the chaplaincy team including chaplains James Ayling and Julie Kelly and teachers Joe Vatucicila and Lucia Hosking.
The students collected more than 700 sausages for a free sausage sizzle, drinks, giveaway prizes and a raffle to show students what is possible.
The event also promoted the main EXODAY Youth Alive concert at HiSense arena on 12 September, where more than 15,000 young people were expected to attend, with Christian rock band Relient K headlining the night.
“Students had the opportunity to hear a positive, life-affirming message, with dance crews coming from local churches and the main performer Lecrae getting arms up in the air, waving side to side,” Ms Hosking said.
“Despite the threat of rain, the event was a resounding success and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
