A NEW performing arts centre equipped with a theatre stage, tiered seating for 200 and practice rooms is set to be built at Berwick Fields Primary School.
The school has received $3 million to construct the centre after being included in round three of the Rudd Government’s Primary Schools for the 21st Century Program.
Berwick Fields Primary School principal Stephen Wigney said the funding would enhance the school’s performing arts program.
“The program is aimed to develop the student’s creativity, team work and confidence to demonstrate their learning to others,” he said.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne said the centre would also be available for the community to use after school hours.
“It will provide an important performance facility in the local area,” Mr Byrne said.
The Primary Schools for the 21st Century Program will deliver funding to primary schools for major infrastructure projects such as new libraries, multipurpose halls, classrooms and covered outdoor learning areas.
