POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a Hampton Park man who was assaulted in Cranbourne North two weeks ago died in The Alfred hospital on Friday.
The 24-year-old man suffered severe head injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a number of youths armed with weapons on the South Gippsland Highway at about 9.45m on 12 September.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
