Move for road upgrade

ROADS and Ports Minister Tim Pallas got a first hand look at busy Clyde Road in Berwick last week as part of a push by local MPs to duplicate the road.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley and Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato invited the minister to check out the road on Tuesday, saying they had been “continuously advocating” to duplicate the road between Kangan Drive and High Street on behalf of the Casey community.
“We have sent countless letters, made lots of phone calls and had many meetings with the Minister and VicRoads,” Ms Graley said.
“I do not want people stuck in traffic jams. I want them spending time with their families.”
Ms Lobato said that she and Ms Graley had secured $1 million from the Brumby Government’s Victorian Transport Plan to enable planning for the duplication to proceed, which is now underway.
“This planning study will ensure that we get this project right,” she said
“We were also very encouraged by the Rudd Labor Government’s commitment to allocate $30 million to the Clyde Road project.”
