THE Endeavour Sporting Club will soon have a new and improved home after scoring $100,000 to upgrade the James Cook Pavilion.
Sports Minister James Merlino and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan announced the funding to upgrade the facility on Tuesday.
“The James Cook Pavilion is a much-loved community sporting asset for the people of Endeavour Hills but, it’s now 20 years old and no longer meets the needs of the community,” Mr Merlino said.
The current pavilion is home to130 members and has a home and away change room and a storeroom, which does not meet the club or the competitions needs, says Mr Merlino.
“The pavilion is inaccessible for people with a disability and does not cater for women. The time has come for an upgrade so that the Endeavour Hills community has greater opportunities to get involved in sport at the James Cook Pavilion.”
Mr Donnellan said the new pavilion would cater for the growing community demand for soccer, featuring larger unisex change rooms, a referee changing room, accessible toilets and a kitchen.
The project is funded through the $5.7 million Strengthening the World Game Program.
“I would like to thank the City of Casey for all its hard work in securing this funding and putting its own significant contribution of more than $168,000 towards the project,” Mr Donnellan said.
