BAKER’S Delight Fountain Gate was recognised this week for its efforts in raising dough for the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
The store took part in the recent Baker’s Delight Pink Bun fundraising campaign and raised more than $10,000 for BCNA.
Breast care nurse at St John of God Hospital Kathy Irvine presented the store with a Pink Award for its contribution to the campaign.
The national campaign, which ran for three weeks, saw Baker’s Delight bakeries donate 100 per cent of the sale of pink buns, $1 from the sale of every pack of Baker’s Delight Strawberries and Crème Tarts and hosted additional fundraising initiatives in-store.
Fountain Gate bakery operator said his team was overjoyed to be recognised with a Pink Award.
“The spirit and generosity that this campaign brings out in our staff and our community is just incredible,” he said.
“The fact that we’ve been able to make a difference to Australian families who are affected by breast cancer is both humbling and inspiring. “We would like to thank the whole community for getting behind us this year and we look forward to trying to break a new record at next year’s Pink Bun campaign.”
Around 14,000 Australian women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone. The campaign raised more than $800,000 nation-wide to go towards ensuring that women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families, receive the very best treatment, care and support possible.
