TRICIA Clarke is calling on Casey ratepayers to make their voices heard over this year’s rate rise by putting pen to paper.
The Endeavour Hills resident has encouraged ratepayers angered by Casey council’s proposed 11.69 per cent rate rise to make a submission to the council’s draft budget. As previously reported, Ms Clarke has called on the council to axe the 5.5 per cent of the rate rise dedicated to the clean up costs in the aftermath of the methane gas leaks at Brookland Greens.
“There is no good whingeing about it unless you’re going to take action,” she said.
“Write only a couple of lines to say I’m not going to take the 5.5 per cent.”
She has also encouraged residents to attend the council meeting on 22 June, when the budget is set to be adopted.
“Show the council you’re actually fair dinkum. Your voice is meant to be heard,” Ms Clarke said.
Casey council has asked the State Government to chip in $41.9 million to help cover the costs at the Stevensons Road closed landfill site.
The draft budget is on public exhibition at Casey customer service centres. Submissions on the draft budget close on 18 June.
