Survival celebrated

PERFORMERS from Windmill Theatre Company are set to celebrate the survival of the human spirit when they take centre stage this month for a production of Miss Saigon.
Thirty-two actors from across Melbourne will perform in the shows, which run until 27 June at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong.
The team has been rehearsing since the end of January, says Windmill Theatre Company’s vice president Geoff Shields.
“They have been rehearsing a couple of times a week since then, as well as helping out with building and painting the set,” Mr Shields said.
“It is a lot of hard work, but we have a lot of fun as well.”
Mr Shields said audiences could expect a thrilling performance of Miss Saigon.
“The story behind Miss Saigon is so intimate. It tells the story of normal people that are caught up in events that they have no control over,” he said.
“It resets Puccini’s tragic Madame Butterfly in the final weeks of the Vietnam War.”
