BESTSELLING author Keri Arthur is holding a question and answer session at the Narre Warren Library later this month.
The dark urban fantasy and paranormal romance author will talk to audiences about her books and writing on Sunday 18 July from 3pm to 4pm.
This will be Ms Arthur’s first visit to the Narre Warren Library.
The 51-year-old said urban fantasy involved fantasy elements such as vampires and werewolves set in a modern urban environment.
“Dark urban fantasy usually means the novel has darker themes and more violence,” she said.
“Paranormal romance is a novel that follows the basic romance structure, but features a fantasy creature, werewolves or vampires, as either the hero or the heroine.
Ms Arthur, who lives in Kilmore, has more than 25 books under her belt.
“I’ve had 22 novels, one novella and three short stories published,” she said.
Ms Arthur said hitting the New York Times bestseller list was a major highlight in her career.
“And I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve that seven times now,” she said.
“I actually started writing when I was 12. A favourite author killed off a side character I loved in one of her books, and I decided to rewrite the book and make that character live.”
Ms Arthur said she didn’t start writing seriously until after her daughter was born, saying it took her 10 years to get her first novel accepted.
The multi-nominated writer has been listed in the Best Contemporary Paranormal category of the Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice Awards and recently won RT’s Career Achievement Award for urban fantasy.
