MORE than 100 residents have signed a petition calling on Casey Council to install a roundabout at the corner of Harkaway Road and Ernst Wanke Road, Berwick. Narre Warren North Labor MP Luke Donnellan said he had mailed local residents affected by the intersection and had a flood of replies.
Mr Donnellan said that in the mornings the roads, both managed by the City of Casey, were extremely congested. This could be fixed by putting in a roundabout, which he said would improve traffic flow and safety. But City of Casey transport manager Paul Hamilton said no casualty accidents had been recorded at the intersection in the past five years.
“Council has assessed this intersection and it is listed on a longer-term program for upgrade,” he said. “At this time, no funding has been allocated towards the works.”
