Road rage

By Kelly Yates
A BERWICK man suffered swelling and bruising to his face after he was punched during an early morning road rage incident on the Monash Freeway.
Kevin Carter was on his way to work on Thursday 15 July when the driver of a silver hatchback allegedly cut in front of his red and white Bronco truck about 6.30am.
The 57-year-old flashed his headlights at the “erratic” driver as they were travelling in-bound on the freeway near Endeavour Hills.
“He was driving erratically, swerving in and out of the lanes. He could have caused an accident or major collision,” Mr Carter said.
Mr Carter said the driver then started to yell abuse at him and pulled alongside him in the next lane.
“He started banging on my mirrors while he was in the emergency lane and then he cut in front of me again and just stopped in the middle of the road,” he said.
The man then jumped out of his car and walked over to Mr Carter, punching him to the face through the window.
“Before I could even look away he hit me in the face and then took off towards the city,” he said.
No-one stopped to help Mr Carter.
He had concussion as a result of the blow.
Police are calling for witnesses and Mr Carter is urging his attacker to come forward.
“I’ve seen plenty of road rage incidents but this is the first time it’s happened to me,” he said.
“I often see people doing stupid things on the freeways like speeding and using the emergency lanes.”
The unknown attacker has been described as Caucasian, aged in his thirties with brown hair and wearing a blue jacket and blue pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Endeavour Hills police station on 9709 7666 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
