SENSOR lights alerted a Cranbourne man, who was in bed, to a burglar who tried to steal his car.
The intruder entered the house on Thompsons Road about 1am on 24 July via an unlocked door. He picked up a set of car keys from the lounge room and two packets of cigarettes from the kitchen bench. The occupant noticed external sensor lights were being activated and went outside the front door to investigate.
He startled the intruder, who was tampering with the car in the driveway. The offender got into a car in a service lane and took off. The vehicle was described as a small sports car, dark coloured, with a loud exhaust. Police described the offender as caucasian, 18 to 20 years old, about 180 centimetres tall, slim build with short, dark hair and he was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information can contact Detective Senior Constable Paul Stow on 9705 3114.
