All aboard the new services

BUS services in Berwick will be extended later this month, giving residents greater access to Parkhill Plaza and Berwick Railway Station.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan welcomed the news of the extension to bus services north of Ernst Wanke Road.
Route 839 will extend further than its previous North Berwick terminus to include new residential developments along Whistler Drive.
Mr Donnellan said buses had not previously serviced this area.
“The extension to this service is great news for the local community, giving residents north of Ernst Wanke Road greater access to local shops and services.” Mr Donnellan said.
The extension to route 839 is one of the new routes to be announced as part of a $4.8 million State Government boost for local bus networks, following a review of bus services in Casey, Cardinia and Greater Dandenong.
More than 100 members of the community were consulted through written submissions and community workshops as part of the review.
“In my community doorknocking and phone calling of the area, local residents have told me that access to public transport was important for them, especially parents of school children and the elderly,” Mr Donnellan said.
The extension of route 839 will mean that the previous route section between Berwick Railway Station and Berwick South (Berwick Springs), will be deleted and replaced with a new route (847).
Services on route 839 will operate until 9pm, seven days a week and are expected to begin on Monday 27 September.
