Charity starts at school

STUDENTS from Haileybury College in Berwick are heading back to the 70s for Windermere’s charity gala event next month.
The students are volunteering their time to be part of the behind-the-scenes crew at the 70s themed event, Windermere Futures Gala, on Saturday 2 October.
Windermere, based in Narre Warren, is the largest independent welfare agency in Melbourne’s South-East.
Windermere improves wellbeing in children, families and communities by helping to realise their potential, building resilience and connecting people in the community.
Marketing and events co-ordinator at Windermere Kathryn King said it was wonderful to have the support of Haileybury College.
“It’s a great example of community spirit and these students should be admired by their peers for their selflessness,” she said.
The Futures Gala will be held at the prestigious Zinc at Federation Square in Melbourne, and is Windermere’s key fundraising event.
The night will run from 7pm to midnight and includes dinner and a main and silent auction, providing guests with the opportunity to purchase a variety of items including those “can’t buy” experiences.
With master of ceremonies Michael Roberts and performances by leading artists, Ms King said it would be a “fun-filled” evening.
To purchase tickets or to make a donation for the silent auction, call Kathryn King on 9705 3233 or email reservations.gala@windermere.org.au or visit the website at www.windermere.org.au
