THE important role dads play in the lives of their children and families was celebrated on Father’s Day at the City of Casey’s special Fathers and Children Together (FACT) family event at the Balla Balla Centre in Cranbourne East.
More than 150 people attended the event on Sunday 5 September and enjoyed a range of activities such as wand-making, face painting, massages for dads anda puppet show followed by a spit roast lunch.
Balla Balla Ward councillor Geoff Ablett opened the event and helped launch some new resources developed by the City of Casey to assist dads in their valuable roles.
“The City of Casey recognises the important role that dads play in the lives of their children, and is committed to supporting it. Council’s dedicated Fathers Inclusion Team was established to encourage fathers to be involved in activities with their children from an early age, and has developed the popular Casey Dads Matter program to this end,” Cr Ablett said.
“It’s really pleasing that so many men are stepping forward, with their children, to take part in a fantastic range of enjoyable activities with a wide range of benefits for all.”
The new resources launched at the event include the Casey Dads Matter DVD, posters detailing the journey from birth to six years of age, and a book for first-time dads.
