Heritage grants now available

COMMUNITY groups are invited to apply for a share of $350,000 in funding to preserve and share their stories.
Minister for the Arts Peter Batchelor said applications were open for the latest round of the State Government’s Local History Grants Program.
“Communities right across Victoria have a range of stories to tell,” Mr Batchelor said.
“The Local History Grants Program aims to support projects that can help communities connect with their heritage – whether it is compiling a book, creating a website, purchasing preservation equipment, staging an exhibition or passing on the skills needed to share stories with future generations.”
The Local History Grants program, open to Victorian not-for-profit community groups, is administered by Public Record Office Victoria.
Examples of past projects funded through the program include newspaper microfilming and digitising, projects for exhibitions in community halls and historical murals.
Applications close on Friday 19 November.
For details, call the grants administration officer at the Public Record Office Victoria on 9348 5688.
