A RECYCLING initiative was launched at Westfield Fountain Gate on Tuesday to divert more than 675 tonnes of beverage containers from landfill across Australia each year.
Westfield have recently installed new public recycling bins across their other Victorian shopping centres including Westfield Geelong, Doncaster, Plenty Valley, Southland, and Airport West, aiming to recycle up to 102 tonnes of beverage containers annually in Victoria alone.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley launched the campaign and said Westfield’s co-ordinated recycling service was an Australian first which would help meet Victoria’s goals to increase opportunities for people to recycle away from home and supported the Victorian Government’s Public Place Recycling Campaign.
Westfield’s Regional Manager for Victoria Tim Broxham said he was also proud to announce the installation of our recycling infrastructure in Victoria.
“This is an important element of Westfield’s over-arching sustainability program,” he said.
“Our program will empower our shoppers to recycle and understand that every bottle and can counts.”
