College funds promised

EDUCATION Minister Bronwyn Pike announced the Victorian Government would provide a $1.5 million financial lifeline to the administrators of ICA Colleges, so that students at a private college can have an uninterrupted end to the school year, if Labor wins the State Election.
Ms Pike said the lifeline would keep the schools open and operating until the end of the school year.
“More than 550 Prep to Year 10 students attend the ICA schools in Melton and Casey, and their families faced the prospect of having to transfer their children to another school for the last six weeks of term,” Ms Pike said.
“It is important that the students, particularly those in Year 10 who are preparing for VCE next year, have an uninterrupted final term of school.
“We understand that being transferred to a new school can be a stressful for both students and parents, that’s why we’re stepping in to minimise any disruption to the children’s education.”
