ABOUT 50 hand-made quilts will bring a little extra warmth to patients in the Monash Special Care Nursery in the coming weeks.
About 18 women from the Patchwork Friendship Group and Patchwork Class at Endeavour Hills UC Neighbourhood Centre have been busy making cot quilts since May.
Co-ordinator Bev Lamont said she came up with the idea after visiting her grandson in the nursery shortly after he was born.
“Some of the babies are in the nursery for months and months.
“The nurses do a great job decorating the rooms but I saw there were quilts on the bed, that were faded and worn and I knew we had ladies who could make them,” Ms Lamont said.
“We have made 46 quilts so far. The ladies were so enthusiastic about making them.”
