Sign up for bus service

HALLAM and Narre Warren residents are invited to sign a petition to keep bus services that run through Dandenong and Berwick.
Liberal candidate for Narre Warren South Gary Rowe and Liberal candidate for Narre Warren North Michelle Frazer said the State Government has secretly reported that the 827 bus service would be withdrawn 15 days after the upcoming State Election.
But Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said a re-elected Labor Party would see positive bus changes.
“This change will mean current 827 route services will become route 828 with all services now extending to Berwick Station.”
He said the changes were recommendation from the Cardinia/Casey and Casey/Greater Dandenong Bus Service Reviews based on extensive community consultation “where many people indicated they wanted more bus services to Berwick Station”.
Mr Rowe and Ms Frazer said they would collect signed petitions from residents in order to prevent the removal of any bus service.
Mr Rowe said if any bus services are removed, students and residents wanting to visit Berwick or Dandenong will have to walk one to two kilometres.
Ms Frazer said the removal of the bus service would isolate many members of the community.
“Together Gary and I will ensure that this vital service is not removed,” Ms Frazer said.
In the Cranbourne electorate, MP Jude Perera announced a re-elected Labor Party would invest $4.8 million to upgrade bus routes in Cranbourne West, Langwarrin and Frankston.
As part of the upgrade, route 789 from Frankston to Cranbourne would operate every 30 minutes on week days and every 60 minutes on the weekend.
It will also run until 9pm each day of the week.
