FOLLOWING a horrifying home invasion in Narre Warren South this week, Casey councillors have vowed to work with police to ensure the community’s safety.
Mayfield Ward councillor Sam Aziz brought up the issue as matter of urgent business at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Cr Aziz recommended that the issue of home invasions be raised at the next Safer Casey Partnership meeting for discussion and consideration, and that Casey Inspector Andrew Miles be invited to an urgent briefing to update councillors on strategies being used to ensure the community’s safety.
“We want to reassure the community that the council and police are working together against this critical type of crime,” Cr Aziz said. “I’m horrified thinking about what that poor family experienced.
“I’m concerned that these are constituents of mine and City of Casey residents and we are obligation to protect them.”
All councillors present at the meeting, except Cr Kevin Bradford, voted in favour of the motion.
