A SPECIAL event will be held this weekend to celebrate a new multi-faceted centre that will benefit a number of people throughout Casey.
City Edge will have a grand opening on Saturday. The building, on Princes Highway, Fountain Gate, is home to a range of retail shops, professional services, community programs and Casey City Church.
The church began seven years ago, and was previously operating out of the Girl Guides Hall in Berwick.
Karen Alsop from the Casey City Church said they acquired the Princes Highway building that was vacant for two years and previously occupied by Light Up Australia.
“When we first saw the building we thought it would be a huge venture that was beyond us, but we went forward with it and had a lot of help from volunteers,” Mrs Alsop said.
She said the church’s vision was to cater to a number of different needs under one roof through entertainment, education and business.
“So far the feedback has been great,” she said.
“People who have seen it said it is a lot like a Myers.”
Retail shops and businesses include Parable Christian Store, Liese Boutique, Dube Creative Web Design, and Care- Community Alliance Real Estate.
Mrs Alsop said there were plans to provide a range of music lessons in the building and members of the community can use the conference centre as well.
Anyone wanting more information can contact City Edge on 8790 2917.
The grand opening will be held on Saturday 18 December, from 9am until 5pm. The ribbon will be cut at 3.45 by Casey mayor Shar Balmes, followed by performances and speeches.
