Advanced life support paramedics from Heatherton and intensive care paramedics from Hampton Park were called to Kurrajong Road just before 9am.
Intensive care paramedic Jennifer Merolli said the boy was walking or running in a school zone on the road when the incident occurred.
“Witnesses told us that he landed on the right hand side of his body and hit his head on the bitumen, but thankfully he didn’t lose consciousness,” she said.
“They told us that he reacted immediately with a scream before getting up and running off the road. He suffered grazes to his face, as well as his right elbow and knee.”
The boy was taken to the Monash Medical Centre in a stable condition.
“He was a very lucky boy not to have suffered more serious injuries,” Ms Merolli said.
