THE Cranbourne Cup is set to benefit from a $50,000 country cup carrot unveiled by Greyhound Racing Victoria.
The bonus, offered for the first time, will go to the connections of any dog who can win three country cups in 2011.
This year’s Cranbourne Cup will be held on 10 January, making it the first chance to set up a provincial treble.
Meanwhile, Kel Greenough looks to have another star on his hands after Marbro Man blitzed the field at The Meadows in heat two of the Group 1 Silver Chief on Saturday night.
Greenough won the Group 1Bold Trease Carnival Cup with star stayer So Seductive in October.
Next Monday, 27 December, sees the running of four semi-finals of the Group 1 Silver Chief, with first and second placegetters qualifying for the final on 1 January.
