KOOWEERUP’S Mark ‘Monz’ Monea landed a world-first, perfect ‘Front Flip 360’ in Newcastle on the weekend as part of the famous Nitro Circus Live show.
Until a week ago, Monea was practically unknown to the Freestyle Motocross (FMX) world – other than for travelling the world as a mechanic for close friend Cam Sinclair in 2009.
Now the 28-year-old is the talk of the action sports world … and has high hopes of taking the trick he has named ‘Carry on’ around the world.
He’s eyeing competing against the best at the X Games in Los Angeles in July.
“I’ve been working on this trick full time for a little over a month and it just felt awesome to land it in front of all those people,” Monea said.
“I’ll just take it week by week, but it’s definitely my dream to take it to the X Games and compete against the best. I also have some other ideas of combos I might be able to throw in there.”
In recent times, critics of FMX have suggested there has been a lack of evolution in the sport, suggesting perhaps it had reached its peak.
Mark Monea and his ‘Carry On’ marks a new era in FMX, proving the sport is far from dead … and the best is yet to come.
Carry on Monea
