ABOUT seven people from the St John Casey Ambulance Depot in Cranbourne shaved their heads for the World’s Greatest Shave, and eight coloured their hair for the cause.
Erin Wallace, the team leader said almost 50 people were present to witness the shaves and colours, and the team managed to raise around $3500.
“Considering I only had a month, it’s not bad for the amount of people who donated,” Ms Wallace said.
“We’re really proud. Next year, we’re definitely going to start raising funds from January and see how much we can get.”
Naz from Nazsnipz, a friend of Ms Wallace, did the cuts and Naz’s sister did the colours.
“Beforehand, ‘I thought oh god! I don’t really want to do this’ but that lasted two seconds and I thought, ‘nah, go for it’,” Ms Wallace said.
“You think ‘god how am I going to look tomorrow?’ but it felt good that I’d done it,” she said.
Ms Wallace said everybody should give it a go, even if it was just a once-off.
“It’ll make you feel really good inside because one, you’re raising money for a good cause and two, it’s only hair, it will grow back, thicker and healthier,” she said.
“That’s what I’m believing in anyway.
“A big thank you to the Classic and Rods Club for their support and to our Division Superintendent Megan Pike who let us use the facilities.”
