Two up for flag clash

TWO sides from the Cranbourne Bowling Club will contest the finals of the ladies pennant.
The Cranbourne Ladies 2 and 4 pennant sides won the season in their sectionals and played finals at Keysborough on Tuesday.
Tuesday pennant on 8 March saw the Division One team lose its final match against Mulgrave Country Club, 84 to 73, with only one rink up and one drawn rink. Cranbourne finished the season in second place
Division 3, Section 7 had a resounding 94-40 win against Black Rock by 54 shots.
All rinks were up, Cheryl Wright’s rink winning by 29 shots, Shirley Venville’s rink by 14 and Isabel Smith’s rink by 11 shots. The team finished on top of its section and will be promoted to Division 2 next season.
Division 3, Section 8 had a 82-51 win against Willow Lodge with all rinks up.
John MacInnes won by 18 shots, Tom Bonney by eight and Vhonda Bonney by five shots, giving an overall win by 31 shots.
This team has escaped relegation because of this win and will remain in this division for next season.
Division 5 also finished on top of their section, with a good 75-59 win against Beaumaris and earnt promotion to Division 4 for next season.
The best winning rink was that of Lindsay Coate, with 18 shots up. Renate Van Soest was five shots up, but John Bartley went down by seven shots.
The ladies pairs championship was played between Cheryl Wright/Pat Boltong and Erika Woodman/Joyce Pearce.
After a very close and interesting match, Erika and Joyce came out on top, 18–16.
