DOVETON has stamped its name on one of the season’s most resounding victories.
The Doves produced the biggest winning margin of any Division Three match this season, smashing Peninsula Pines 7-0 at Centenary Park on Saturday.
After a mediocre performance against Fitzroy last week, Doveton returned fire with a convincing win that moves it to within a game of second place.
Meanwhile, Berwick was disappointing in its 3-0 loss to Mornington at Dallas Brooks Park.
Berwick, who is 2-1 at home but winless on the road, could not find the spark up-front that made it so damaging last Friday night against Croydon.
In Division Two, it took only five minutes for the Casey Comets to score the winner over the Eastern Lions at Gardiners Creek Reserve.
David Terek got Casey off to the ideal start, but as it turned out, his lone goal was all that was needed to record the 1-0 win.
While in the lower league of Provisional Three, Endeavour United suffered yet another loss.
United went down 2-0 to the bottom placed University of Melbourne at Princes Park.
Endeavour, who has only won one game from six matches, is situated in the drop zone and although it is too early for crisis talks, it will be praying for a few wins in the coming weeks.
Casey Kings, meanwhile, sit middle of the table after it drew 3-3 with Bayside Argonauts at Shipston Reserve.
Doveton, by a mile
