FREE flood recovery and emergency planning street meetings will be held across the City of Casey this month.
The City of Casey, in partnership with the Victorian State Emergency Service (SES), Country Fire Authority (CFA), Red Cross and other service organisations is conducting the meetings in the areas that were most heavily impacted by the recent storm flood in February.
The two-hour street meetings will provide information on recovery, flood behaviour, personal safety and survival, house preparation and issues to consider when planning for emergencies.
Trained facilitators will also be on hand to assist residents to develop a home emergency plan.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes encouraged Casey residents to attend the meetings.
“With a focus on assisting residents with flood preparation and planning, the street meetings will also provide an opportunity for residents to catch up with their neighbours and chat to them about what they plan to do should an emergency situation arise,” Cr Balmes said.
The next meetings will be held on 15 June at 6.30pm at the Melbourne Water Reserve, at the end of Narellan Street and Oaktree Drive, Hampton Park.
There will also be meetings on 17 June at 6.30pm at the Oakgrove Community Centre Reserve, 89-101 Oakgrove Drive, Narre Warren South; 20 June at 6.30pm at the Merinda Park Community Centre Reserve, 141-147 Endeavour Drive, Cranbourne North and 22 June at 6.30pm at the Austin Park Reserve, 3 Austin Avenue, Narre Warren.
Bookings are not required. Attendees are encouraged to wear warm clothing because the meetings are held outside.
Light refreshments will be provided by St Vincent de Paul.
