A NARRE Warren North man is in a serious, but stable condition, after he was involved in a crash that left one man dead and another in a critical condition.
Police were called to the crash on Dandenong-Hastings Road near the intersection of Queens Road, Somerville, about 10pm on Sunday.
Police believe a Proton hatch and a Nissan Patrol were travelling in opposite directions on a sweeping bend when they collided, causing the Nissan to spin and become partially airborne before landing on the rear of the hatch.
The 30-year-old driver of the Proton suffered chest and leg injuries, and was airlifted to The Alfred hospital and is listed as critical.
It is believed a man who died at the scene was the front seat passenger of the Proton hatch.
The driver and sole occupant of the 4WD, a 54-year-old man from Narre Warren North, was transported by road ambulance to The Alfred in a serious, but stable condition.
