MAD Collingwood supporter Holly Booth has one wish for her 21st birthday this weekend – that her beloved Pies take out the AFL premiership for the second year running.
The Cranbourne North resident will celebrate her milestone birthday on Saturday alongside her sister Rebekah at the MCG cheering along her adorable team and hoping for a fairytale ending.
“It would be the best present ever if they could win – again,” she said.
“Hopefully, Bek and I will be celebrating my 21st at the top of the Southern Stand with lots of other Magpie supporters.”
And that won’t be her only 21st celebration with her party to be held on grand final eve tomorrow night in true Collingwood fashion – themed a touch of black and white with a black and white cupcake tower.
Holly’s favourite player – local boy Tyson Goldsack who she used to chase around the Pakenham Football oval when she was younger – even made the guest list for her birthday bash.
“Tyson and his girlfriend Jess are my Twitter buddies and are very genuine and down to earth,” she said.
“Tyson and Jess are invited to my 21st party, but have some pretty important grand final plans.”
Holly is as Collingwood mad as they come and has been a supporter her whole life.
Some may call it fate that she became such a strong Pies follower being born in the same week Collingwood took out the 1990 flag.
“My Mum had me induced so she could be home to watch the grand final,” she said.
“My Nanny wanted me to be called Maggie but Mum went with Holly instead.”
Holly even named her new puppy after Collingwood’s favourite son – Buckley.
Holly goes to the footy every week along with her older sister, Bek.
“We have front row seats near the Collingwood race,” she said.
“We are Legends members and got tickets for the 2011 Grand Final.
“I feel very lucky to be going to the grand final after Friday night’s Preliminary Final against the Hawks. We were lucky to be in front when the final siren went.”
Holly is the coach of the Narre Warren 17 and under netball team, with one of the main reason she plays and coaches there being that they sport black and white colours.
Her under 17s team won the Casey-Cardinia League premiership last Saturday, which she said helped her kick off her celebrations.
“It was a great start to a black and white week,” she said.
“After the nail biter of Friday night, it was a great result to win the 17 and under premiership in black and white for the Narre Warren Football Netball Club.
“If I could talk to the boys before the game, I would say ‘Play as well as my 17 and under Narre Warren Premiers did last Saturday’.”
