CASEY and Cardinia’s heritage is being put on display.
On Saturday 22 October the Narre Warren Library will be hosting a free local history exhibition where heritage groups will display interesting photographs and artefacts from yesteryear.
Local history librarian Heather Arnold said the exhibition will explore a variety of topics.
“The expo will display the joint history of the area, and if residents have ancestors in the area they can learn about them as well,” Ms Arnold said.
The event will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm with a number of historical societies and community groups available to explain the significance of the items on display.
“Hopefully, people will learn about the history and get a passion for the history,” she said.
Some of the items on display will date back as far as 1860 and will include documents regarding council rates and other records.
“We’re living in a changing area where everything is new and we’re losing our history.
“The area actually has a lot of history and it’s worth celebrating,” Ms Arnold said.
The event will run as part of History Week, a state-wide history celebration held during the last week of October each year.
