TWO aspiring journalists from Narre Warren have been selected from more than 200 people across the state to be part of an educational reporter program.
Kevin Li from Narre Warren and Stacie Mayer from Narre Warren North will join a team of 30 young people for Youthcentral’s Roving Reporter program.
The team will participate in the free two-day workshop which features guest speakers who work professionally in the fields of journalism and writing and will attend media launches, interview people and reviewing the latest CDs, movies, concerts, books and games.
They will also be encouraged to write from their own experiences and about their own communities
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said it was a great achievement and both Kevin and Stacie to be selected for the program.
“There are many issues affecting Casey youth, and Kevin and Stacie will be able to write about the issues in the local community bringing them to the attention of Victorians,” Ms Peulich said.
“Being a roving reporter is a great opportunity for young people to experience what it’s like to work as a professional journalist.”
Receiving 90,000 visits per month, www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au is the most popular government website for young people in Victoria.
