ENDEAVOUR Hills took a 26-run victory against Mt Waverley on Saturday.
Chasing 226, Mt Waverley was quickly down to 3/39 before a fight-back from Navin Perera and Dhugal Bedingfield. The pair put on 52 for the fourth wicket before Perera was dismissed by John Hayes at 4/91.
From there the middle and lower order collapsed for Mt Waverley as Hayes and Shane Peake took wickets seemingly at will to leave the visitors precariously placed at 8/125.
Bedingfield found support from the unlikeliest of places; the numbers 10 and 11, Peter Blakeney and Adam Ternes, who started reviving the innings.
Bedingfield and Blakeney put on 43 then Bedingfield and Ternes made 31 for the last wicket before Bedingfield’s fortress innings of 71 off 179 balls came to a close courtesy of Daniel Evans.
Hayes was the best of the Hills’ bowling troupe, taking 3/38, with Peake, Evans and Chris Pereira taking two wickets each.
Endeavour Hills face the Kingston Saints in a two-dayer across Saturday and Sunday at Walter Galt Reserve in Mordialloc.
