Reserve refurbish works

A NUMBER of sports fields across Casey are in line for significant maintenance works, including complete reconstructions.
At Tuesday night’s council meeting, councillors approved a five-year works program for sports field reconstructions, ground irrigation, drainage and surface renewal works.
Strathaird Reserve oval two, in Narre Warren South, will get a complete $580,000 reconstruction in the next year, then KM Reedy Reserve Soccer ovals two and three the year after and then Pearcedale Reserve oval two the following year.
Lawson Poole Reserve oval one and Sydney Pargeter Reserve are the next two in line for reconstruction after those, but will be at least four years off.
The netball courts at Olive Road Reserve in Doveton are in line for resurfacing in the next year, at a cost of $154,200.
Frog Hollow Reserve oval one, Chalcot Lodge practice pitch, Cairns Road oval and Robinson Reserve will also be resurfaced in the next year.
City of Casey councillor Rafal Kaplon said he was delighted to move the adoption of a comprehensive schedule for the maintenance of Casey’s sports grounds over the next five years at the council meeting.
“With 100 sports grounds in our city, I personally recognise the difficulty that exists in meeting all of the maintenance needs and wants of sporting and community groups,” he said.
“However I believe the new maintenance program has fairly prioritised works in order of need, whilst evenly distributing maintenance across the city to ensure equality.
“I am also delighted that the maintenance program has now been expanded to cover a wider range of maintenance works, which to me indicates that Casey is serious about providing the best possible conditions for all sporting groups despite budgetary constraints.”
