ALWAYS in need of extra funding to help support the local community, the Narre Warren CFA will be holding a special fund-raiser next month.
On Saturday 5 April the brigade will run a car wash and barbecue from 10am to 3pm at its headquarters, and the community is being encouraged to come along and get their car washed for a small donation as a way to contribute to the vital work carried out by the Narre Warren Fire Brigade.
Captain Paul Hardy said the Narre Warren CFA, a completely volunteer brigade, is one of the busiest in the state and was always looking to increase and upgrade its equipment to help respond better to local incidents.
He said the money raised at the fund-raiser would be used to invest in their equipment.
“We need to raise money for things like a new defibrillator, and equipment that’s old needs to replaced,” Mr Hardy said.
“A lot of this stuff we have to purchase ourselves – we recently put iPads into two of our trucks. There are a couple of apps going around which can give us relevant information onto our iPads, like maps to incidents and the location of the nearest fire hydrants.
“Or if we go to hazard chemicals job, we can look up more info.”
The Narre Warren CFA is at 292 Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road in Narre Warren.
