Hoons no more

Prospect Hill Road in Narre Warren is no longer a hoon hotspot thanks to City of Casey.

The street was known for reckless drivers drifting, performing skids, drug dealing, vandalism, smashed glass, dumped tyres and burnt outs.

“Council resolved in April 2018 to temporarily close this section of Prospect Hill Road for a six month period,” councils city design and construction manager Trevor Griffin said.

“The trial closure was installed in early July. It comprises of a series of bollards and locked gate for maintenance.

“Once the trial is completed a further report will be presented to council.”

Resident Michael Presta said it’s made such a difference.

“There is no more burning rubber smell throughout our houses and no more donuts in the wet,” he said.

“I love the peace of mind and not having to worry about people’s safety now that our fences are safe.”
