A man has narrowly escaped serious injury after his car collided into a home in Narre Warren South on Wednesday 20 March.

SES crews from Narre Warren were called to the scene about 7.20pm where the Toyota Camry sedan was wedged in the roller door of the garage on Ardbalir Terrace.

“To my knowledge the driver was able to exit the vehicle. The vehicle didn’t have to be cut open or anything like that,” spokesman for Narre Warren SES Damian Burns said.

“It’s just that the car cause such damage that the removal of the car was going to be tricky and didn’t know how it was going to affect the stability of the house,” he said.

To his understanding, the cause of the incident was “operator error.”

“It wasn’t due to drugs or alcohol or anything.

“The whole of the roller door was damaged and also the lintel (beam) to the garage which helps hold up the roof,” he added.

Mr Burns said SES crews were on scene for an hour clearing rubble and putting up tarps until the owner’s insurance company inspects the damage at a later date.

“The car remained place. The car was helping to support those structures that if they had of been displaced they might of caused further structural damage,” he said.
