Emergency services have hung up their boots for an evening, gathering at the Narre Warren Bowls Club for some social competition on Monday 18 March.

The event involved teams of 12 players each from Narre Warren police, ambulance, SES, and CFA stations.

Club member Eric Sydenham said the inaugural competition was supported by the Bendigo Bank and allowed the opportunity for emergency services to bond in a social atmosphere.

“These four organisations would normally only interact in stressful circumstances whilst attending emergency situations,” he said.

“Narre Warren Bowls Club was proud to host this event and in doing so recognise the enormous contribution these volunteers make to our local community-often risking their own safety in the process.”

Ambulance Victoria Berwick Branch took out bragging rights by winning on the night, ahead of the All-stars team which filled in for the police team.

The event proved was so popular that it will now be held in the months of September and March with continuing sponsorship from Narre Warren South Branch of Bendigo Bank.

“Bendigo Bank Narre Warren South was the kind sponsors of this event and their involvement reinforces the Community minded spirit of Bendigo Bank,” Mr Sydenham said.

Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan and Casey Councillor Rex Flannery were guest speakers.
