Kambrya College has been recognised for reducing its environmental impact through the State Government’s ResourceSmart Schools program.

Kambrya has achieved its second star as part of Sustainability Certification and saving over $30,000 through their involvement in the ResourceSmart Schools program. The school’s 2Star certification achievement demonstrates their commitment to sustainability.

Schools participating in the program are awarded up to five stars for completing modules in relation to water, waste, energy and biodiversity and are provided with free assistance from sustainability experts.

Keith Perry, principal of Kambrya College, said he was proud of the efforts of students, staff and school community.

“Achieving two stars in the ResourceSmart Schools awards is a fantastic achievement for Kambrya College but we don’t want to stop there. Our school will continue to commit to sustainability and we look forward to even more stars being awarded in the future,” he said.

The school also encouraged its counterparts in the region to sign up the ResourceSmart Schools program.

Narre Warren South MP Gary Maas congratulated Kambrya College for reducing its environmental impact.

“This certification recognises the great work of the dedicated teachers and staff at Kambrya College,” he said.

ResourceSmart Schools is a free program which assists schools to embed sustainability in everything they do – linking sustainability to school operations, the school’s curriculum and engaging with the school community.

Managed by Sustainability Victoria, the program is a platform for schools across the state to teach students to make sustainable changes for the future.
