Westfield recognises local heroes

The finalists were congratulated by Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon.

The Westfield Local Heroes program returned for its second year in 2019, aiming to discover and celebrate individuals and their affiliated organisations whose work promotes social wellbeing and harmony within the community.

All nominations were assessed to create a shortlist of six finalists for every Westfield Centre – 240 in total across Australia and New Zealand.

On Wednesday 9 October Westfield Fountain Gate held its annual Local Heroes morning tea where the centre presented awards and cheques to the final four Local Heroes finalists. James Seeary of Operation Newstart Casey and Judy Martin of Endeavour Ministries each received $10,000 cheques while Daniel Beeson of Try Australia and Lauren Moore of Abacus Learning Centre were presented with $5,000 cheques.

Each finalist was congratulated by Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon, who was also in attendance.

This was a highlight for the Westfield Fountain Gate community program for 2019 with all finalists having a large impact on the local Casey community by assisting those in need.
