POLICE are investigating after men carrying an axe and bat wearing a scream mask attempted to raid an Endeavour Hills milk bar last week.
Dandenong Embona Taskforce detectives have released CCTV footage following a botched armed robbery which occurred just before 6.30pm on 7 April.
Police said two men entered the business on Gleneagles Drive armed with an axe and one with a baseball bat.
One man used the axe to cut the cash register cords and fled with it, but while attempting to flee he dropped his weapon.
The second man held a bat and kept watch at the front of the premises during the incident and was believed to be wearing a mask, resembling one from the movie Scream.
Both men then left the scene in a blue vehicle.
Detective Senior Constable Ben Vahland said there was no cash in the register at the time of the incident.
Sen Con Vahland said that given the time of the attack, he believed there would be witnesses who could help the police with their investigation.
The first man is described as being of African appearance, about 180cm tall, he was wearing a hooded jumper and had a bandana or something similar covering his face.
The second man was also of African appearance, about 175cm, was wearing black clothing and a Scream mask.
