Ham-fisted burglars in drive-through fast lane

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

A GROUP of high-end car thieves had eyes bigger than their stomachs on Monday when they got caught at a Narre Warren McDonald’s after stopping to have a bite to eat.
Police were called to the fast food store on the Princes Highway just before 7am when suspicions were aroused after an allegedly stolen Porsche Cayenne, BMW and VW Passat stationwagon were spotted next to each other in the car park.
Five teenagers – from Dandenong, Cranbourne and Patterson Lakes – tried to flee McDonald’s when police arrived but were soon arrested.
It’s believed the VW was stolen from a Mount Eliza property earlier that morning, while the Porsche was allegedly stolen from Camberwell on 29 July, and the BMW allegedly taken on 1 August from Brighton East.
