All set for public square party

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

ENDEAVOUR Hills’ new public square will be launched with a celebration on 10 September.
Casey Council will unveil the first $1.1 million stage of the community precinct, which includes a public square, cafe, outdoor seating and shared pedestrian and bike paths.
Mayor Sam Aziz said the public square was expected to become the “central heart of the community” – close to the library and leisure centre’s entrances.
It was the first step in a 15-year masterplan for the precinct, Cr Aziz said.
The opening includes a free sausage sizzle, coffee and kids face painting.
There will also be a Casey Next pop-up stand to allow residents to give feedback on their “ideas, priorities and hopes” for Casey’s future, Cr Aziz said.
In the council’s 2016-’17 budget, the project’s second stage has been allocated funds for landscaping, accessible terracing, upgrades to the youth and skate parks, a bike path and improved footpaths.
The celebration is between 10am-noon on 10 September at 10 Raymond McMahon Boulevard, Endeavour Hills.
