Say on arts solicited

THE City of Casey has extended the closing date of a survey, which allows residents to help shape the development of the Casey Arts Development and Facilities Plan.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the Casey Arts Participation Survey, which will be open until 31 March, and have their say on the state of the arts in the municipality.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes said the City of Casey was rethinking the council’s approach to the development and support of the arts in the municipality and was working with Vic Health and other local and state organisations to improve arts participation over the next three years.
Cr Balmes said it was vitally important that as many people as possible complete the survey to ensure he needs of Casey’s diverse community were met by the new plan.
“State Government research has shown positive social and community outcomes come from increased participation in the arts at a local level,” Cr Balmes said.
“The City of Casey is keen to capitalise on this concept in our own community.”
City of Casey manager Community Strengthening Janette Green said it was important that the council identify levels of participation in and satisfaction with existing arts programs delivered by the council. They could gain an insight into what might be preventing Casey residents, especially those in isolated areas, from getting involved in community arts activities, she added.
The survey is available online at www.casey.vic.gov.au /currentconsultations, or from Customer Service. Contact the City of Casey on 9705 5200 for more information.
