TWO hard-working students at Fountain Gate Secondary College have received an opportunity of a lifetime.
Year 11 student Brodie Ryan has been chosen to travel to Canberra to observe the workings of the Federal Government and potentially meet the Prime Minister. Year 10 student Ben Hill, who is the schools vice-captain and SRC leader, was selected to represent the college, Victoria and Australia at the Leadership conference in Malaysia this month, which is paid for by the Department of Education and Malaysian government.
The topic of the conference is Student Leaders in the Face of Global Diversity and is being held on 23 and 24 March.
Brodie was recently awarded the City of Casey Australia Day Study Tour Award and had previously visited the City of Casey and State Parliament.
Fountain Gate Secondary College’s Community Links co-ordinator Wayne Smith said both Ben and Brodie were very deserving students.
“Brodie is a natural leader and has the respect of both students and teachers and is very keen to be involved in the school community,” Mr Smith said.
“Ben is a natural born leader and a good public speaker. He is a keen advocate for the schools and comes up with many great ideas.”
Ben said he is very excited for his first trip overseas and hopes to learn many new qualities which will help him in the future.
“I hope to learn more about leadership, public speaking and communication,” he said.
“I am very honoured to have been chosen and appreciate all the support I received from the school.”
