Nar Nar Goon continues to set a scorching hot pace at the top of the West Gippsland Veterans competition after the reigning premiers thumped Warragul Industrials in impressive style at Spencer Street on Sunday.

The Goon was particularly impressive in the opening term, booting 6.3 to no score to set up an 18.20(128) to 0.3(3) victory that propelled the champs to a five-nil start to the season.

With experience comes the joy of teamwork, and with this much experience in the one group it was easy to share the ball around.

The Goon had 11 goal-scorers on the day, with Nathan Brown, Damien McKenna, Ben Scanlon, Dwayne Scott, Shannon Stocco, Lucas Thomas and Danny Wells kicking a couple each while Ryan Davey, Troy Farrell, Sean Nunan and Andre Young chimed in solitary majors.

Davey, a champion midfielder for Cranbourne over the years – and not long out of senior football – was supreme for the winners, while Stocco, Wells, Thomas and Young once again produced the goods.

In other games this week, Chase Saunders, Adam Rakip, Harley Lacunes, Chris Early, Kane Hollister and Marc Jolley ran amok as Garfield claimed an 82-point win over Neerim South, while Rhyse Shortis kicked five and Nathan Welsh two as Devon Meadows got the better of Kilcunda-Bass by 79 points at Bass.

And in the final game of round five, Phillip Island booted six last-quarter goals to run over the top of Tooradin-Dalmore.

Callan Scheibel, Chris Moltzen, Nick Moltzen and Leigh Woolford kicked multiple goals for the Bulldogs, while Mark Blondel, Anthony Young and Matt Rose led the last-quarter charge.

Mark Chadwick, Lee Payne, Jason Lakatos and Aaron Laing all played well for the Seagulls.

All teams now have two weekends off before returning to action on Sunday June 15.
