Free women’s AFL program in Casey

Women from all around the City of Casey have been invited to lace up their boots and join a free, beginner-friendly AFL program that’s kicking off in June at Casey Fields.

The six-week program is delivered in partnership between the Melbourne Football Club and Casey through the #CaseyGirlsCan initiative.

It is also to empower women aged 18 and over to get active, learn new skills, and connect with their community through football.

Casey’s mayor, Stefan Koomen, said that “this is a fantastic opportunity for women in Casey to try something new, build confidence, and maybe even take the first step toward joining a local club”.

“We’re proud to support inclusive programs that make sport more accessible for everyone,” he said.

The event will run from 18 June to 23 July, on Wednesdays, and is free for all participating women.

To also make it easier for women to take part, the program includes free on-site childminding, provided by a local centre, as well as Auskick sessions for children aged four and above, run by AFL Victoria.
