Pedaller peddles new look

By Emma Sun
ABOUT 30 to 40 people turned up at Steve Taylor-Madin’s bicycle shop, Riding Way, to see him get his head shaved for the World’s Greatest Shave.
The 28-year-old Narre Warren man chose to shave not only the hair on his head, but his beard as well – and his wife was delighted.
“She’s over the moon, definitely loving this more,” Mr Taylor-Madin said.
The staff from Solutions For Hair did the honours and it wasn’t long before Steve’s locks were on the floor.
Despite his pre-shave apprehension, he said he used jokes as a way of settling his nerves during the process and was now enjoying his new “do”.
“It’s pretty cool, it’s like Velcro, sticks to the back of the couch and stuff,” he said.
“I was looking pretty messy beforehand and it cleaned me up a bit. Everyone is saying how different and better it looks, so it’s good.”
The World’s Greatest Shave helps the Leukaemia Foundation fund services to support patients and families living with leukaemia and related disorders.
The foundation found that almost 10,000 Australians would be diagnosed with blood cancers and related blood disorders this year.
Mr Taylor-Madin encourages everyone to do the shave in the future and contribute to the cause.
“Definitely go ahead with it,” he said. “If you’re in a fortunate position, having no hair is nothing compared with being able to help someone out.”
Although he was short of his target of $3000, Mr Taylor-Madin managed to raise $700 through his bid and is grateful for everyone who has supported him.
“I would like to thank everyone who turned up and donated, and thanks to the girls at Solutions for Hair,” he said.
